A Tyre Technician is responsible for the inspection, installation, maintenance, and repair of tyres on various types of vehicles, including cars, trucks, and heavy machinery. This role involves diagnosing tyre-related issues, ensuring proper tyre pressure, performing wheel alignments, and balancing tyres to enhance vehicle performance and safety. The Tyre Technician must have strong attention to detail, knowledge of different tyre types, and the ability to use specialized tools and equipment.
Responsibilities:
Inspect tyres for wear and damage, identifying any necessary repairs or replacements.
Install, rotate, and balance tyres to ensure proper alignment and performance.
Repair punctures, leaks, and sidewall damages using appropriate tools and techniques.
Monitor and adjust tyre pressure according to manufacturer specifications.
Conduct wheel alignments and balancing to improve vehicle handling and safety.
Maintain an inventory of tyres, tools, and repair materials.
Provide recommendations to customers on tyre maintenance, replacements, and upgrades.
Follow safety protocols while handling tools, machinery, and hazardous materials.
Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with workplace safety regulations.
Assist in training new team members on tyre maintenance and repair techniques.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in automotive services is a plus.
Proven experience as a Tyre Technician or in a similar automotive service role.
Strong understanding of tyre types, tread patterns, and maintenance techniques.
Ability to use tyre mounting and balancing machines, alignment tools, and hand tools.
Good physical stamina to lift heavy tyres and work in demanding conditions.
Attention to detail to diagnose and fix tyre issues accurately.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under minimal supervision.
Strong communication skills to interact with customers and team members.
Knowledge of workplace safety standards and hazardous material handling.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays if required.
