Job Description

As a Safety Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the workplace meets all safety and health regulations. You will develop and implement safety policies to prevent accidents and injuries. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend solutions to mitigate risks. Train employees on proper safety procedures and protocols. Investigate incidents and near misses, and provide recommendations for improvement. Monitor compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements. Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential for this role. A degree in occupational health and safety or related field, along with relevant certifications, are often required. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify potential hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Coordinate safety training programs for employees to increase awareness and promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
  • Investigate accidents and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
  • Maintain safety records and documentation, including incident reports and training records, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with management and employees to establish safety goals and objectives and monitor progress towards achieving them.
  • Provide guidance on the selection and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize risks in the workplace.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and emerging trends in safety management to continuously improve safety programs.
  • Conduct emergency preparedness drills and develop response plans to mitigate risks and ensure a prompt and effective response in the event of an emergency.
  • Serve as a resource for employees and management on safety-related issues and promote a proactive approach to preventing accidents and injuries.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST).
  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards (OSHA, etc.).
  • Experience in conducting safety inspections and implementing safety programs.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
