Job Description

A Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all costs relating to construction projects. This includes conducting feasibility studies, estimating project costs, preparing bills of quantities, evaluating tenders, and monitoring project expenses. The Quantity Surveyor should have strong analytical and mathematical skills, as well as the ability to interpret and analyze technical drawings and specifications. They will work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure accurate cost management throughout the project lifecycle.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct feasibility studies to assess the financial viability of construction projects.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and bills of quantities for construction projects.
  • Evaluate tenders and negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Monitor and control project expenses, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Analyze technical drawings, specifications, and other project documentation to identify cost implications.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Prepare and present progress reports to clients and project stakeholders.
  • Perform regular site visits to assess and manage construction costs.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in quantity surveying.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to cost management.
  • Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction management, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in quantity surveying or relevant field (e.g., RICS).
  • Proven experience as a quantity surveyor or similar role in construction projects.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Proficiency in cost management software and tools.
