Automobile Painter

An Automobile Painter is responsible for preparing and painting vehicles to restore their appearance or customize their look. This role involves sanding, priming, mixing paints, and applying coatings with precision. The painter must ensure high-quality finishes that meet industry standards while maintaining a clean and safe working environment. The ideal candidate should have expertise in automotive paint applications, color matching, and an understanding of different paint materials and techniques.

Responsibilities:

• prepare vehicles for painting by cleaning, sanding, and priming surfaces

• mix and match paint colors to achieve the desired shade and finish

• apply paint, clear coats, and other protective finishes using spray guns or other methods

• inspect completed work to ensure a flawless finish, free of defects or imperfections

• perform minor bodywork repairs, such as filling dents and scratches before painting

• mask and cover areas that do not require paint application to prevent overspray

• maintain and clean painting tools, spray guns, and workstations regularly

• follow safety procedures, including proper ventilation and protective gear usage

• work with clients or service advisors to understand specific painting requirements

• stay updated on new painting techniques, materials, and industry advancements

Requirements:

• proven experience as an automobile painter or in a similar role

• knowledge of different types of automotive paints, coatings, and application techniques

• ability to mix and match colors with accuracy

• proficiency in using spray guns, paint booths, and other automotive painting equipment

• strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality finishes

• understanding of safety procedures and regulations related to automotive painting

• physical stamina and ability to work in a standing position for long hours

• ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team

• vocational training or certification in auto body painting is preferred

• experience with custom paint jobs or restoration projects is a plus
