X-Ray Technician

An X-Ray Technician, also known as a Radiologic Technologist, is responsible for capturing high-quality diagnostic images using X-ray equipment to assist physicians in diagnosing injuries, illnesses, or abnormalities. They work in hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centers, or physician offices. This role requires technical proficiency with imaging equipment, strong attention to detail, and a compassionate approach when working with patients to ensure their comfort and safety during procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Operate X-ray machines and related imaging equipment to capture internal images of patients

• Position patients correctly and ensure their safety and comfort during procedures

• Follow precise instructions from physicians regarding imaging requirements

• Maintain proper shielding techniques to minimize radiation exposure

• Prepare and maintain radiographic equipment, ensuring it functions optimally

• Develop and review X-ray films or digital images for clarity and accuracy

• Keep accurate patient records and document procedures

• Ensure compliance with radiology health and safety standards and protocols

• Explain procedures to patients and answer any questions to ease concerns

• Collaborate with radiologists and other medical professionals to interpret imaging results

Requirements:

• Associate's degree or certification in Radiologic Technology 

• Proven experience operating X-ray or radiologic equipment

• Thorough understanding of anatomy, imaging techniques, and safety protocols

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow exact instructions

• Basic computer and digital imaging skills

• Physical ability to lift or position patients and equipment as needed

• CPR or basic life support certification is preferred

• Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with radiology advancements
