Job Description

The Watchmaker position requires a skilled individual with expertise in repairing, maintaining, and assembling timepieces. As a Watchmaker, you will be responsible for examining watches to diagnose issues, disassembling and cleaning components, repairing or replacing faulty parts, and ensuring the watches are functioning accurately. Additionally, you will be tasked with adjusting mechanisms, testing for accuracy, and performing quality checks to guarantee the highest standards are met. Attention to detail, precision, and technical proficiency are essential for this role, as Watchmakers are entrusted with handling valuable and intricate timepieces. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of watch movements, materials, and tools, along with a passion for craftsmanship and dedication to producing exceptional work. Prior experience in watchmaking or a related field is typically required for this position.


Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain a variety of watches, including mechanical, automatic, and quartz movements.
  • Disassemble and assemble watch components, such as dials, hands, crystals, and movements.
  • Clean, oil, and adjust watch movements to ensure accurate time-keeping.
  • Replace watch parts, such as broken jewels, mainsprings, and balance wheels.
  • Conduct thorough testing and quality checks on repaired watches.
  • Provide estimates and communicate with customers regarding repair timelines and costs.
  • Offer recommendations for preventive maintenance to prolong the lifespan of watches.
  • Keep accurate records of all watch repairs, including parts used and work performed.
  • Stay updated on latest industry trends and watch technologies to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and best practices in handling watch repair tools and equipment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a watchmaking program or relevant apprenticeship.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Watchmaker of the 21st Century (CW21).
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work with precision tools.
