Job Description
The Transportation Manager is responsible for overseeing the transportation operations of a company. They develop transportation strategies, set performance goals, and monitor transportation costs and efficiency. The Transportation Manager also collaborates with logistics providers and suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and optimal route planning. They manage a team of drivers and ensure compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement transportation strategies to meet customer and company requirements.
- Set performance goals and monitor transportation costs and efficiency.
- Collaborate with logistics providers and suppliers to optimize route planning and on-time delivery.
- Manage a team of drivers, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback.
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of transportation activities and performance metrics.
- Analyze transportation data to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
- Coordinate with other departments, such as sales and warehouse, to support transportation operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in transportation management or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and industry best practices.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
