Job Description

The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all aspects of cost estimation, budgeting, and financial control for construction projects. This role involves preparing cost reports, contract administration, and risk assessment to ensure projects are completed within budget and meet contractual requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in quantity surveying, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Working closely with project managers, contractors, and clients, the Senior Quantity Surveyor ensures that financial and contractual aspects of construction projects are effectively handled.


Responsibilities:

  • prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports for construction projects

  • manage and oversee the preparation of bills of quantities, tender documents, and contract agreements

  • assess and control project costs, ensuring cost-effectiveness and value engineering throughout the project lifecycle

  • negotiate contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to secure favorable terms and conditions

  • monitor and evaluate project expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets

  • conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for minimizing financial risks

  • oversee contract administration, including claims management, variations, and dispute resolution

  • collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and financial forecasting

  • ensure compliance with local regulations, contractual obligations, and industry best practices

  • mentor and supervise junior quantity surveyors, providing guidance on cost control and contract management


Requirements:

  • bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, civil engineering, or a related field

  • minimum of 8-10 years of experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry

  • strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts and local construction laws and regulations

  • proficiency in cost estimation software such as CostX, CCS, or similar tools

  • excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex financial data

  • strong negotiation and communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders

  • experience handling large-scale commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects

  • ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines

  • fluency in English; Arabic is a plus
