Job Description

The Senior Procurement Officer is responsible for overseeing the procurement activities of an organization, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. This role involves developing procurement strategies, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in procurement, supply chain management, and vendor negotiations, with a strong ability to optimize costs while maintaining quality standards.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize costs and improve efficiency.

  • Identify and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish long-term relationships.

  • Oversee the purchasing process, including sourcing, tendering, and contract management.

  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.

  • Collaborate with internal departments to understand their procurement needs and ensure timely fulfillment.

  • Analyze market trends and supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities.

  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards.

  • Manage procurement records, including purchase orders, invoices, and supplier agreements.

  • Resolve disputes with suppliers related to pricing, quality, or delivery issues.

  • Lead and mentor junior procurement staff, providing guidance and training as needed.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as a Procurement Officer, Senior Buyer, or in a similar role.

  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in supplier management.

  • Excellent knowledge of procurement policies, procedures, and industry best practices.

  • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess supplier performance.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

  • Experience in contract management and knowledge of legal terms in procurement.
