Senior Process Safety Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Process Safety Engineer to lead process safety initiatives, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with UAE and international safety standards. Based in the UAE, this role is critical to driving safe design, operational integrity, and risk mitigation across major industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of process safety management (PSM) systems

• Conduct risk assessments including HAZOP, LOPA, QRA, SIL, and Bowtie analyses

• Support design reviews and safety studies during FEED, EPC, and operational phases

• Ensure compliance with ADNOC, OSHA, API, and local regulatory frameworks

• Review and approve process safety documentation such as safety philosophies, relief system design, and cause & effect diagrams

• Evaluate potential hazards and develop mitigation measures in coordination with operations and engineering teams

• Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis

• Provide technical leadership and training on process safety standards and best practices

• Liaise with contractors and third-party consultants to ensure alignment with process safety requirements

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in safety culture and operational risk management

  
  

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related discipline

• Minimum 7–10 years of experience in process safety, preferably in the oil & gas or petrochemical sector

• Professional certifications such as TUV Functional Safety, NEBOSH PSM, or equivalent are highly desirable

• Strong knowledge of international and UAE-specific safety standards and codes

• Hands-on experience with process simulation tools and safety analysis software (e.g., PHA-Pro, DNV Phast, PIPENET)

• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills

• Strong report writing and presentation capabilities

• Fluent in English; Arabic is an advantage

• Prior UAE or GCC project experience is preferred
