Job Description

As a Senior Principal Well Engineer, you will be responsible for providing expert technical guidance and leadership in the planning, design, and implementation of well completion and production strategies. Your role will involve overseeing complex engineering projects, conducting risk assessments, and optimizing well performance. Additionally, you will be instrumental in analyzing and interpreting data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and cost reduction. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of well engineering principles, advanced knowledge of drilling techniques, and a proven track record of successful project management. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams are essential for excelling in this role. A minimum of 10 years of experience in well engineering is required, along with a bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering or a related field. A professional engineering license is highly preferred.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the execution of comprehensive well engineering plans for oil and gas projects.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on well design, drilling optimization, and completions strategies.
  • Conduct risk assessments and mitigation plans to ensure safe and efficient drilling operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of well engineering activities with project objectives.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and best practices to enhance well engineering processes.
  • Monitor drilling performance and costs to optimize well construction processes.
  • Review and approve drilling programs, procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex drilling challenges and provide timely solutions.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers to develop their technical skills and knowledge in well engineering.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for well construction activities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in well engineering, including design, planning, and operations.
  • Proficiency in industry software such as WellCat, WellView, and StressCheck.
  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of leading successful well engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations, best practices, and emerging technologies in the field of well engineering.
