Senior PHP Software Engineer - Laravel Specialist

The Senior PHP Software Engineer – Laravel Specialist will lead the backend development of scalable, high-performance web applications using Laravel and related PHP technologies. This role involves designing system architecture, optimizing application performance, and mentoring junior developers, all within a fast-paced Agile environment. Working in alignment with UAE data privacy laws, the engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver secure and efficient digital solutions for web and enterprise platforms.

Responsibilities:

• Leading the design, development, and maintenance of Laravel-based backend systems and APIs.

• Writing clean, efficient, and testable code following modern PHP standards and architectural best practices.

• Collaborating with front-end developers, DevOps, and QA teams to deliver seamless user experiences and robust integrations.

• Optimizing application performance, scalability, and security, with a focus on high-traffic and data-intensive environments.

• Conducting code reviews, identifying refactoring opportunities, and mentoring junior engineers.

• Managing version control workflows using Git and participating in CI/CD pipeline implementation.

• Ensuring backend systems adhere to UAE Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and cybersecurity compliance requirements.

• Troubleshooting and resolving complex bugs and production issues to maintain system reliability.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in PHP development, with at least 3 years of specialized experience in Laravel.

• Strong understanding of MVC architecture, RESTful APIs, and object-oriented programming in PHP.

• Proficiency with Laravel tools such as Eloquent ORM, Artisan, Blade templating, and Laravel Mix.

• Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL databases, caching strategies, and performance tuning.

• Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure), Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Knowledge of front-end technologies such as Vue.js, React, or Alpine.js is a plus.

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

• Fluency in English is required; Arabic is a plus.
