Job Description

As a Senior Lighting Designer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing creative lighting concepts for a variety of projects including architectural, theatrical, and commercial spaces. Working closely with clients, architects, and other stakeholders, you will lead the lighting design process from concept development to final implementation. Your expertise in lighting technologies, techniques, and trends will be essential in creating innovative and visually impactful lighting solutions. Additionally, you will collaborate with project teams to ensure that lighting designs meet technical requirements, budgets, and timelines. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in lighting design along with excellent communication and project management skills.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the design and development of lighting concepts for various projects, ensuring they meet client requirements and design standards.
  • Develop lighting plans, specifications, and detailed drawings for interior and exterior spaces.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, interior designers, and other stakeholders to integrate lighting design seamlessly into overall project designs.
  • Stay current on lighting technology trends and best practices to recommend innovative solutions and techniques.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure timely and successful project completion.
  • Conduct on-site visits and evaluations to assess lighting installations and provide guidance for adjustments or improvements.
  • Coordinate with manufacturers, suppliers, and contractors to source lighting fixtures and equipment based on project needs.
  • Review and approve lighting submittals, shop drawings, and mock-ups for compliance with design intent and specifications.
  • Mentor and guide junior lighting designers in their professional development and project work.
  • Represent the lighting design team in client meetings, presentations, and project reviews to communicate design concepts and decisions effectively.
  • Bachelor’s degree in lighting design, architecture, interior design, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a lighting designer in a professional setting.
  • Proficiency in lighting design software such as AutoCAD, Dialux, or AGi
  • Strong understanding of lighting design principles, trends, and technologies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and project teams.
