Job Description

As a Safety Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing and enforcing safety regulations to ensure a safe work environment for all employees. Your duties will include conducting regular safety inspections, identifying potential hazards, developing safety procedures, and providing safety training to staff. Additionally, you will investigate accidents and near-misses, maintain safety records, and work with management to develop and improve safety programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to effectively train and educate employees on safety protocols. A relevant certification or degree in occupational health and safety is preferred.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and risks.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses in the workplace and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide safety training to employees on topics such as ergonomics, hazard communication, and emergency preparedness.
  • Maintain safety records and documentation in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with management and employee groups to promote a culture of safety and awareness.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and assist in developing safety improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives.
  • Stay current on industry best practices and trends in workplace safety to continually improve the safety program.
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g. OSHA 30-Hour or NEBOSH International General Certificate).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a safety-related role.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
