Job Description

As a Safety Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing and enforcing safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment for all employees. Your primary duties will involve conducting regular safety inspections, identifying potential hazards, and implementing corrective actions to mitigate risks. You will also be tasked with developing and implementing safety training programs to educate employees on proper safety procedures and protocols. Additionally, you will investigate any accidents or incidents that occur in the workplace and work to prevent future occurrences. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of safety regulations and protocols. A degree in occupational health and safety or a related field is typically required for this role.


Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain safety protocols, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and risks.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees to increase awareness and compliance.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, and create reports with recommendations for prevention.
  • Monitor and report on safety performance metrics to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with management to integrate safety measures into daily operations and projects.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards.
  • Participate in safety committees and meetings to discuss concerns and initiatives.
  • Conduct emergency response drills and coordinate evacuation procedures.
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in workplace safety to continuously improve safety programs.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
  • Proven experience in conducting safety inspections, risk assessments, and accident investigations.
  • Excellent communication and training skills to promote a safety-conscious work environment.
