Key Responsibilities

Product Selection and Purchasing


Research and identify market trends, consumer preferences, and competitor activities.

Select products that meet the needs and preferences of the target customer base.

Negotiate prices, quantities, and delivery terms with suppliers and vendors.

Ensure that products are sourced ethically and sustainably.

Inventory Management


Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels.

Plan and implement markdowns and promotions to manage excess inventory.

Coordinate with the warehouse and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of products.

Vendor Relations


Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.

Evaluate and select new suppliers to ensure a diverse and reliable supply chain.

Handle disputes and issues with suppliers promptly and effectively.

Sales Analysis and Forecasting


Analyze sales data to assess product performance and forecast future demand.

Adjust purchasing strategies based on sales trends and market conditions.

Prepare reports on sales performance, inventory levels, and market trends.

Pricing and Promotion


Develop pricing strategies that maximize profitability while remaining competitive.

Plan and execute promotional activities in collaboration with the marketing team.

Monitor the effectiveness of promotions and adjust strategies as needed.

Merchandising and Display


Work with visual merchandisers to create appealing product displays.

Ensure that products are presented in a way that enhances their appeal and drives sales.

Keep abreast of visual merchandising trends and best practices.


Requirements

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field.

Experience: 2-5 years of experience in retail buying, merchandising, or a related role.

Skills:

Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.

Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

Proficiency in using inventory management software and MS Office Suite.

Understanding of market trends and consumer behavior.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

Working Conditions

This role typically requires working in an office setting with occasional travel to trade shows, supplier meetings, and retail locations.

May require long hours during peak seasons or when launching new product lines.

Career Path
