Job Description
A registered nurse (RN) is a healthcare professional who provides patient care, educates patients and their families about various health conditions, and assists in coordinating the patient's healthcare journey. RNs work in various healthcare settings and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes. They assess patient needs, develop care plans, administer medications, and provide treatments. RNs also provide emotional support to patients and their families and advocate for their rights and choices.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and physical examinations.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs.
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered by healthcare providers.
- Monitor patients' conditions and collect and analyze data for ongoing evaluations.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
- Educate patients and their families about their health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
- Document patient care activities and maintain accurate and updated patient records.
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families during challenging times.
- Advocate for patient rights and choices and ensure they receive high-quality care.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay up-to-date with nursing practices and advancements.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Valid RN license in the state of practice.
- Strong knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and strong critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
- Compassion and empathy towards patients and their families.
- Physical stamina to perform nursing duties.
- Commitment to providing safe and high-quality patient care.
