Job Description
A Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all costs relating to construction projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. They ensure that all costs are properly estimated, monitored, and controlled throughout the project. Additionally, they provide advice on contractual and legal matters and help maximize profitability for the company.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze cost estimates for construction projects.
- Monitor and control project costs to ensure they align with budgets.
- Prepare and review contracts, including terms and conditions.
- Evaluate and negotiate variations, claims, and change orders.
- Conduct feasibility studies to assess potential costs and benefits.
- Provide advice on procurement strategies and cost-saving measures.
- Collaborate with project managers and architects to ensure cost-effective solutions.
- Prepare reports and forecasts on project financials.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends and developments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods and materials.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in using cost estimating software.
- Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
