Job Description

As a Process Safety Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety and integrity of all processes within a manufacturing or industrial setting. You will be tasked with identifying potential hazards, assessing risks, and implementing effective control measures to prevent accidents and protect the health and well-being of employees, the community, and the environment. In this role, you will conduct process hazard analyses, develop safety procedures, and provide expert guidance on risk mitigation strategies. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and improve processes with safety as a top priority. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of chemical processes, safety regulations, and risk management principles. A degree in chemical engineering or a related field is typically required, along with relevant experience in process safety. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively are essential for success in this role.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain process safety programs to ensure compliance with regulations and company standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses for processes, equipment, and facilities.
  • Implement process safety management practices to prevent incidents and protect employees, the community, and the environment.
  • Investigate and analyze process safety incidents to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Review and update process safety documentation, including procedures, standards, and guidelines.
  • Provide guidance and support to operations and engineering teams on process safety issues.
  • Participate in process hazard reviews, safety audits, and management of change evaluations.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging process safety trends and technologies to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate process safety into all aspects of the organization.
  • Conduct training and awareness programs on process safety principles and practices for employees.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or related field)
  • Professional certification in Process Safety (such as Certified Process Safety Professional - CCPS)
  • Experience working in process safety or process engineering roles
  • Strong knowledge of process safety regulations and standards (such as OSHA PSM, API RP 754)
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
