The Pharmacy Purchase Manager will be responsible for overseeing the procurement of pharmaceutical products, medical supplies, and health-related items in compliance with UAE healthcare regulations. This role involves managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, ensuring inventory availability, and implementing cost-effective purchasing strategies. Operating within hospital pharmacies, retail chains, or healthcare distribution companies in the UAE, the manager ensures that all procurement activities support patient safety, business goals, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
Managing the procurement of pharmaceutical and medical products in accordance with DHA, MOHAP, and other UAE regulatory authority requirements.
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with approved suppliers, distributors, and manufacturers.
Negotiating pricing, delivery terms, and contract conditions to ensure cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality standards.
Monitoring inventory levels across multiple branches or locations and initiating timely replenishments to avoid stockouts.
Ensuring that all purchased items are compliant with UAE drug registration and health authority approvals.
Coordinating with the pharmacy, warehouse, and finance teams to streamline purchasing, delivery, and payment processes.
Reviewing and analyzing purchasing reports to optimize vendor performance and reduce procurement costs.
Keeping abreast of market trends, new product launches, and regulatory updates that may impact purchasing decisions.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; DHA license is an advantage.
Minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience in the pharmaceutical sector, with at least 2 years in a managerial role within the UAE.
Strong understanding of UAE healthcare and pharmaceutical regulations, including drug registration and controlled substances procedures.
Proven experience in vendor negotiation, contract management, and procurement planning.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills with attention to compliance and detail.
Proficiency in ERP systems (such as Oracle, SAP) and MS Office applications.
Strong communication and leadership skills to manage cross-functional collaboration.
Fluency in English is required; Arabic is a plus for dealing with local suppliers and regulatory bodies.
