Job Description
A Pathologist is a medical professional responsible for the analysis and interpretation of medical tests, such as laboratory and diagnostic tests. They examine body tissues, fluids, and cells to determine the causes and nature of diseases. Pathologists play a crucial role in patient care, as their findings help guide treatment decisions.
Responsibilities
- Conducting autopsies and other post-mortem examinations to determine cause of death.
- Analyzing and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to determine the best course of treatment.
- Consulting with patients and their families to explain test results and answer questions.
- Supervising laboratory technicians and other medical staff.
- Participating in research studies to advance medical knowledge.
- Developing and implementing quality control procedures to ensure accurate test results.
- Keeping up-to-date with advancements in pathology and related technologies.
Requirements
- Medical degree and completion of a pathology residency program.
- Board certification in pathology.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
