Neonatologist

The Neonatologist will provide specialized medical care for newborns, particularly those who are premature, critically ill, or require complex medical attention. This role is centered in a hospital-based neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), where the physician will lead the diagnosis, treatment, and management of various neonatal conditions. The Neonatologist will collaborate closely with pediatricians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal outcomes for infants under their care. This role demands a high level of precision, compassion, and commitment to continuous patient monitoring and family communication.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluating and diagnosing medical conditions in newborns, including premature births, congenital disorders, and infections.

• Developing and implementing comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each infant's unique medical needs.

• Leading and participating in daily NICU rounds with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

• Performing specialized procedures such as intubation, umbilical line placement, and resuscitation when necessary.

• Collaborating with obstetricians and maternal-fetal medicine specialists for high-risk deliveries.

• Communicating regularly with families to provide updates, explain medical conditions, and offer emotional support.

• Supervising and mentoring residents, fellows, and NICU nursing staff.

• Ensuring adherence to hospital protocols, patient safety standards, and best practices in neonatal care.

Requirements:

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution with board certification in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.

• Active medical license in UAE.

• Minimum of 2–3 years of post-fellowship clinical experience in neonatal intensive care preferred.

• Excellent diagnostic, decision-making, and procedural skills tailored to the neonatal population.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with families and multidisciplinary teams.

• Ability to manage high-pressure situations with calm, focus, and professionalism.

• Familiarity with electronic health records and neonatal monitoring technologies.
