The Neonatologist specializes in the medical care of newborn infants, particularly those who are premature, have low birth weights, or have medical conditions requiring intensive care. They provide comprehensive healthcare services to newborns, including diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing monitoring. The Neonatologist collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible infant outcomes. They must have excellent clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle high-stress situations.

Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized medical care for newborn infants, particularly those who are premature, critically ill, or have other medical complications
• Manage and oversee the care of neonatal patients in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU)
• Perform medical procedures such as intubation, umbilical catheterization, and lumbar punctures as needed
• Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals including nurses, respiratory therapists, and social workers to develop and implement treatment plans
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care and treatment plans
• Provide support and education to parents and families of neonatal patients
• Participate in research projects and clinical trials related to neonatal care

Candidate Requirements:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school
• Board certification in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
• Valid state medical license
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
