Medical Coder

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing and accurately assigning medical codes to various procedures and diagnoses according to the current coding guidelines and regulations. The Medical Coder will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper billing of services provided, as well as maintaining patient records and confidentiality. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and coding systems such as ICD-10 and CPT is essential for this role. The successful candidate should also have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Certification such as CPC or CCS is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assign appropriate medical codes to diagnoses and procedures in accordance with coding guidelines and healthcare regulations
• Review patient medical records to ensure accuracy and completeness of coding
• Communicate with healthcare professionals to clarify diagnosis or procedural information
• Ensure coding compliance and accuracy for insurance claims and reimbursement
• Stay up-to-date with changes in coding guidelines and regulations
• Abstract relevant information from medical records for coding purposes
• Adhere to patient confidentiality and data security protocols
• Work collaboratively with healthcare providers and administrative staff to ensure accurate coding and billing
• Identify documentation deficiencies and provide feedback to improve coding practices
• Participate in coding audits and quality improvement initiatives

• Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) designation.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Proficiency in medical coding software and electronic health records systems.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in assigning diagnostic and procedural codes.
