Job Description
The Medical Assistant - Homecare provides essential support to healthcare professionals in delivering medical care to patients in their homes. They assist with various tasks, including taking vital signs, administering medications, and providing medical and emotional support to patients and their families. This role requires strong empathy, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the home setting, following established care plans and instructions from healthcare professionals.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Take and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration.
- Monitor patient condition and report any changes or concerns to healthcare professionals.
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols to ensure patient and staff well-being.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical assistant program is preferred.
- Proven experience as a medical assistant or in a similar healthcare role.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others.
