Job Description

A Legal Counsel (Logistics) is responsible for providing legal guidance and support to ensure compliance with regulations governing supply chain, transportation, and logistics operations. This role involves drafting and reviewing contracts, mitigating legal risks, advising on corporate governance, and handling disputes related to logistics operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial law, transportation regulations, and international trade laws. This position requires excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills to protect the company's interests while ensuring smooth logistics operations.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice on logistics, transportation, and supply chain matters

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including vendor agreements, freight contracts, and service-level agreements

  • Ensure compliance with local, regional, and international trade and transportation laws

  • Manage legal disputes related to logistics, supply chain, and commercial contracts

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including operations, procurement, and compliance teams

  • Monitor regulatory developments and advise on necessary changes to business practices

  • Assist in risk management by identifying and mitigating legal risks in logistics operations

  • Oversee legal aspects of customs, import/export regulations, and freight forwarding agreements

  • Support corporate governance by ensuring the company adheres to ethical and legal standards

  • Liaise with external legal counsel for specialized legal matters or litigation


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) and admission to a recognized bar association

  • Proven experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain law

  • Strong knowledge of commercial contracts, international trade regulations, and customs laws

  • Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills

  • Ability to provide strategic legal advice in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong problem-solving and risk assessment skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Experience in dispute resolution and litigation is an advantage

  • Understanding of corporate governance and compliance requirements

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
