Job Description

As a Laboratory Receptionist, you will serve as the initial point of contact for patients, healthcare professionals, and visitors entering the laboratory. Your role is essential in creating a positive and organized experience, managing administrative tasks, and facilitating the smooth operation of the laboratory's front desk activities.


Responsibilities:


  • Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner, creating a welcoming environment.
  • Verify patient information, appointments, and required documentation.
  • Schedule patient appointments for laboratory tests, ensuring optimal time management and efficient use of resources.
  • Answer incoming calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information about laboratory services.
  • Manage email inquiries and correspondences, providing prompt and accurate responses.
  • Register patients upon arrival, collecting relevant personal and insurance information.
  • Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for specific tests, if applicable.
  • Coordinate with laboratory staff to ensure patients are promptly attended to for sample collection.
  • Communicate necessary instructions to patients for fasting, specimen collection, and preparation.
  • Collect payment for laboratory services, process payments, and issue receipts.
  • Ensure accurate recording of payments and maintain financial records.
  • Provide patients and visitors with information about test procedures, preparation requirements, and expected turnaround times.
  • Enter patient and test information accurately into the laboratory management system.
  • Maintain organized and updated patient records and documentation.
  • Address patient inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally and promptly.
  • Ensure high levels of patient satisfaction and positive interactions.
  • Confirm upcoming appointments and send appointment reminders to patients via phone or email.
  • Ensure the reception area is organized, clean, and well-presented.
  • Monitor and restock necessary materials, forms, and information brochures.

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Relevant education in healthcare administration or medical office management is advantageous.
  • Previous experience as a Receptionist, preferably in a medical or laboratory setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction and customer service.
  • Strong communication skills for phone and email correspondence.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive patient information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems, including scheduling and electronic medical records (EMR) software.
  • Ability to multitask, manage appointments, and handle busy reception areas.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and laboratory testing procedures is beneficial.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of additional languages such as Arabic can be an advantage.
