Job Description

As a Laboratory Analyst specializing in Oil & Petroleum, you will play a key role in conducting various tests on crude oil, refined petroleum products, and related samples to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Your responsibilities will include preparing samples, performing chemical and physical analyses using specialized equipment and techniques, interpreting and documenting test results, and maintaining accurate records of all findings. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot any issues, recommend improvements in processes, and contribute to the overall quality control measures within the laboratory. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemistry or related field, hands-on experience with analytical instruments, and a meticulous attention to detail to deliver precise and reliable data in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities

  • Conducting analysis of crude oil, petroleum products, and petrochemicals using various analytical techniques.
  • Performing quality control tests on samples to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment such as gas chromatographs, spectrophotometers, and viscosity meters.
  • Interpreting and compiling data, preparing reports, and documenting findings accurately.
  • Conducting research and staying updated on industry trends and advancements in oil and petroleum analysis.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide analytical support.
  • Ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations in the laboratory.
  • Participating in proficiency testing programs and maintaining accreditation requirements.
  • Assisting in the development and validation of new analytical methods for improved efficiency and accuracy.
  • Providing training and guidance to junior laboratory staff on standard operating procedures and best practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related field.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting, specifically in the oil and petroleum industry.
  • Strong understanding of analytical techniques and instrumentation used in oil and petroleum analysis.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and standards related to oil and petroleum testing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
