Job Description

The Lab Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily functioning of laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. This role includes managing lab personnel, coordinating testing schedules, maintaining equipment, and optimizing workflows. Working in accordance with UAE healthcare and safety regulations, the manager plays a crucial role in ensuring that laboratory services are delivered accurately, efficiently, and on time.


Responsibilities:

  • Supervising the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, including personnel management, workflow coordination, and resource allocation.

  • Ensuring all laboratory testing and procedures adhere to local and international quality standards and accreditation requirements.

  • Overseeing equipment calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure uninterrupted lab functions.

  • Implementing and monitoring health and safety practices in compliance with UAE laws and infection control protocols.

  • Coordinating with procurement for timely supply of reagents, consumables, and other lab materials.

  • Maintaining accurate records of test results, QA/QC documentation, and audit reports.

  • Leading and supporting internal and external audits, inspections, and accreditations.

  • Collaborating with clinicians, researchers, and administrative teams to improve service delivery and operational efficiency.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of 6–8 years of experience in laboratory operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

  • Strong understanding of laboratory accreditation standards such as ISO 15189 or CAP.

  • Familiarity with LIS (Laboratory Information Systems) and other digital lab management tools.

  • In-depth knowledge of quality assurance, biosafety, and UAE regulatory compliance.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Fluency in English is required; Arabic is an advantage.

  • Must hold or be eligible for a valid UAE license (DHA/DOH/MOH) if working in a clinical laboratory setting.
