Job Description

The role of a Junior Sous Chef is to assist the Executive Chef in designing menus, managing kitchen operations, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality food. This position requires strong culinary skills and the ability to lead and train a team of chefs and kitchen staff. The Junior Sous Chef will help with menu creation, inventory management, and cost control. They will also contribute to maintaining a safe and sanitary kitchen environment, following all health and safety regulations.


Responsibilities

  • Assist the Executive Chef in developing menus that meet customer preferences and budgetary guidelines.
  • Oversee and participate in the preparation and cooking of food items.
  • Ensure consistent food presentation and quality by following established recipes and standards.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques and food handling procedures.
  • Monitor food inventory levels and order supplies as needed to minimize waste and control costs.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop and implement training programs for new hires.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, following all health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in conducting regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  • Support the Executive Chef in implementing strategies to enhance kitchen efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and new culinary techniques.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent work experience in a professional kitchen.
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie.
  • Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and food safety practices.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
