Junior Sous Chef - Pastry

The Junior Sous Chef – Pastry supports the Pastry Sous Chef in overseeing daily pastry kitchen operations, ensuring the preparation of high-quality desserts, baked goods, and confectionery items. This role involves assisting in menu development, supervising junior staff, maintaining food safety standards, and contributing to the smooth and creative functioning of the pastry section. The position operates in a dynamic culinary environment and complies with all relevant UAE food safety and hygiene regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting in the preparation and presentation of pastries, desserts, and baked goods to ensure consistency and excellence.

• Supporting the Pastry Sous Chef in supervising kitchen staff, delegating tasks, and maintaining workflow efficiency.

• Collaborating on new menu ideas, seasonal offerings, and special event preparations.

• Ensuring all pastry items meet established quality and presentation standards.

• Monitoring kitchen hygiene, food storage, and preparation areas to comply with UAE food safety regulations.

• Controlling inventory levels, minimizing wastage, and maintaining accurate stock records.

• Training and mentoring junior pastry team members to uphold kitchen standards and encourage skill development.

• Ensuring timely preparation and service during peak meal periods and events.

Requirements:

• Diploma or degree in Culinary Arts or Pastry and Bakery from a recognized institution.

• Minimum of 3–4 years of experience in a pastry kitchen, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.

• Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking fundamentals, and dessert presentation.

• Familiarity with HACCP guidelines and UAE food safety laws.

• Creativity, attention to detail, and a passion for pastry arts.

• Excellent time management and team coordination skills.

• Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and maintain composure during busy service hours.

• Fluency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.
