Junior Sous Chef - Bakery

A Junior Sous Chef - Bakery supports the Sous Chef and Executive Pastry Chef in the daily operations of the bakery section within a kitchen. The role involves preparing high-quality baked goods, supervising junior staff, maintaining hygiene standards, and ensuring consistency in taste and presentation. Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation and baking of breads, pastries, and other baked goods

• Oversee daily bakery operations in the absence of the Sous Chef

• Ensure all recipes and presentation guidelines are followed consistently

• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the bakery workstations

• Train and supervise junior bakery staff and interns

• Monitor ingredient inventory and assist with ordering supplies as needed

• Support in developing and testing new bakery menu items

• Enforce food safety and sanitation standards at all times

• Collaborate with other kitchen sections to coordinate food preparation

• Report equipment issues or shortages to the management team promptly

Requirements:

• Diploma or certification in culinary arts or baking and pastry

• Proven experience in a bakery or pastry section of a professional kitchen

• Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and tools

• Ability to manage time efficiently and multitask under pressure

• Good leadership and communication skills

• Attention to detail and a creative flair for presentation

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

• Familiarity with food safety and HACCP guidelines

• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift baking supplies
