Job Description

The Insurance Claims Assessor is responsible for evaluating insurance claims and determining the validity of the claims. They review policy information, investigate the circumstances of the claim, gather supporting documentation, and assess the financial impact of the claim on the insurance company. The Claims Assessor communicates with policyholders, brokers, and other relevant parties throughout the claims process, providing updates and addressing any concerns. They must ensure that claims are handled accurately, fairly, and in accordance with company policies and industry regulations.


Responsibilities

  • Assess insurance claims to determine coverage and liability.
  • Investigate the circumstances of the claim, including collecting statements and supporting documentation.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of the claim on the insurance company.
  • Communicate with policyholders, brokers, and other parties involved in the claims process.
  • Provide timely updates and explanations regarding the status and resolution of claims.
  • Determine claim settlements and negotiate appropriate payouts.
  • Ensure claims are handled in compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as underwriting or legal, when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of claims and related activities.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and changes in insurance regulations.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as insurance, finance, or business administration).
  • Previous experience in insurance claims assessment or related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance policies and industry regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in evaluating claims.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using claims management software and other relevant tools.
  • Strong negotiation and customer service skills.
  • Professional certification in insurance claims assessment (optional, but desirable).
