Job Description

The Infection Control Manager plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of patients, staff, and visitors by developing and overseeing infection prevention strategies within healthcare settings. This position involves implementing evidence-based policies, leading audits, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The role requires a proactive professional who can collaborate across departments, train healthcare personnel, and respond swiftly and effectively to outbreaks and potential infection risks. The Infection Control Manager must maintain up-to-date knowledge of global infection control trends and adapt policies accordingly.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement comprehensive infection prevention and control programs tailored to the specific needs of the healthcare facility

  • Conduct risk assessments and regular surveillance to identify potential infection hazards and initiate appropriate interventions

  • Develop, update, and enforce infection control policies in alignment with national and international guidelines

  • Coordinate with clinical departments to ensure compliance with hygiene and sterilization procedures across all units

  • Lead training and educational sessions for healthcare staff to promote best practices in infection prevention

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented infection control measures through audits and feedback

  • Manage the reporting and documentation process for infection-related incidents and ensure timely communication with regulatory bodies

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams during outbreak investigations and develop containment strategies

  • Provide expert consultation and support during the procurement of medical equipment and supplies to ensure infection control standards are upheld


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Microbiology, Master’s degree preferred

  • Proven work experience in infection prevention and control, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or managerial role

  • Strong understanding of epidemiology, clinical hygiene protocols, and public health regulations

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence practice across a multidisciplinary team

  • Detail-oriented approach with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Familiarity with the use of infection control software and reporting tools

  • Ability to stay current with emerging infectious diseases and adapt policies to reflect evolving healthcare needs
