Heavy Driver

The role of a Heavy Driver involves operating various types of heavy vehicles to transport goods, materials, equipment, or people. Responsibilities include loading and unloading cargo, following safety regulations and traffic laws, maintaining the vehicle in good condition, and ensuring timely deliveries. Heavy Drivers must have a valid driver's license for the appropriate vehicle class, along with a clean driving record. They should possess good communication skills, be reliable and punctual, and have a strong understanding of navigation. Physical stamina is important as the job may involve long hours of driving and lifting heavy items. Experience in driving heavy vehicles and knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance are preferred qualifications for this role.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate and drive heavy vehicles such as trucks, buses, or trailers to transport goods and materials to designated locations.
• Adhere to traffic laws, regulations, and company policies while driving on roads and highways.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and proper functioning of the vehicle.
• Manage and maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of working hours, vehicle inspections, and fuel consumption.
• Load and unload goods or materials from the vehicle, ensuring proper securing and handling to prevent damage.
• Communicate with dispatchers or supervisors to report delays, accidents, or other incidents while on the road.
• Follow established routes and schedules to complete deliveries in a timely manner.
• Provide exceptional customer service by interacting professionally with clients at pick-up and drop-off locations.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as checking oil levels, refueling, and cleaning the vehicle's interior and exterior.
• Adhere to occupational health and safety standards to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.

• Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record
• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 2 years of proven experience as a heavy truck driver
• Knowledge of traffic laws and regulations
• Ability to operate and maintain heavy vehicles in a safe manner
