Healthcare Nutrition Specialist

The Healthcare Nutrition Specialist plays a critical role in promoting health and preventing disease through nutrition in healthcare settings. They work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide evidence-based nutrition education, counseling, and support to patients. As a Healthcare Nutrition Specialist, you will be responsible for:

- Conducting individualized nutrition assessments and developing personalized nutrition plans for patients based on their medical conditions and needs.

- Collaborating with healthcare team members to develop and implement nutrition interventions to improve patient outcomes.

- Providing nutrition education and counseling to patients and their families, including strategies for managing chronic diseases and making sustainable lifestyle changes.

- Monitoring and evaluating patients’ progress and making necessary adjustments to their nutrition plans.

- Keeping up-to-date with the latest research and evidence-based practices in nutrition and implementing them in patient care.

- Participating in healthcare team meetings and contributing nutritional expertise to patient care discussions.

- Acting as a resource for healthcare professionals on nutrition-related topics and providing in-service training as needed.

- Developing and implementing nutrition-related quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.

- Collaborating with community organizations to provide nutrition education and promote healthy eating habits.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.

- Registered Dietitian (RD) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

- Minimum of 2 years of clinical nutrition experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.

- Strong knowledge of medical nutrition therapy and chronic disease management.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

- Proven experience in developing and delivering nutrition education and counseling sessions.

- Proficient in using electronic health records and nutrition software.

- Passion for promoting health and preventing disease through nutrition.
