Commis III - Pastry Kitchen

The Commis III – Pastry Kitchen is an entry-level role responsible for supporting the pastry team in preparing desserts, baked goods, and other sweet items. This position involves assisting in basic pastry tasks, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the pastry section, and learning from senior chefs. It is an excellent opportunity for aspiring pastry chefs to gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen environment and develop foundational skills in pastry arts.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of pastries, cakes, tarts, breads, and other baked items as per the chef's instructions.

• Measure and mix ingredients accurately following recipes and standards.

• Ensure proper storage and labeling of ingredients and finished products.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pastry kitchen, including workstations and equipment.

• Support with plating and presentation of desserts during service.

• Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times.

• Assist with inventory checks and reporting low stock levels.

• Learn and adopt new pastry techniques and kitchen procedures from senior chefs.

• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations during shifts.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastry Chef or Sous Chef.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; culinary school certification is a plus.

• Basic knowledge of baking and pastry techniques.

• Passion for pastry arts and a willingness to learn.

• Good organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

• Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.

• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

• Physical stamina to stand for long hours and lift moderate weights.
