Job Description
The Cashier plays a key role in ensuring smooth and accurate transactions at the point of sale. This role requires attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Process Transactions: Accurately handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions, checks, and gift cards.
• Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, address their needs, and answer any questions about products or services.
• Maintain Cash Register: Keep the cash drawer balanced, ensuring that all transactions are accounted for at the end of each shift.
• Sales Support: Assist customers with locating items, bagging purchases, and sometimes assisting with returns or exchanges.
• Inventory Management: Inform management of low-stock items and assist in restocking shelves as needed.
• Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain a clean and organized checkout area.
• Compliance: Follow all company policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines.
• Problem Resolution: Address customer complaints or issues, escalating to management when necessary.
Requirements
Qualifications:
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Previous cashier or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
Skills:
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle stressful situations with a positive attitude.
• Basic math skills for handling transactions.
• Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems is a plus.
Working Conditions:
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• May require lifting or carrying light loads.
