Job Description

The Cashier Customer Service Representative is responsible for processing customer transactions, handling cash and credit payments, and providing excellent customer service. This role involves assisting customers with inquiries, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and ensuring a positive shopping experience.


Key Responsibilities:

Customer Interaction:

  • Greet customers as they enter the store and provide a friendly, helpful service.
  • Address customer inquiries, resolve complaints, and provide information on products and services.
  • Assist customers with locating products and making purchasing decisions.

Transaction Processing:

Accurately process cash, credit, and debit card transactions.

Scan items, ensure pricing is correct, and handle exchanges and returns.

Balance the cash register at the beginning and end of each shift.

Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.

Merchandise Handling:

Bag, box, or gift-wrap merchandise, ensuring it is properly packed for transport.

Restock items and maintain displays to ensure they are visually appealing and well-organized.

Monitor inventory levels and report discrepancies to the appropriate manager.

Work Area Maintenance:

  • Keep the checkout area clean, organized, and free of clutter.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
  • Adhere to health and safety standards, including the proper use of equipment.


Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a retail or customer service role preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to handle transactions accurately.
  • Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems and other computer applications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations with composure.

Personal Attributes:

  • Friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
