Job Description

As an Associate Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in supporting the underwriting team in evaluating and assessing insurance applications. Your main responsibilities will include reviewing insurance applications, conducting risk assessments, analyzing applicant information and background, and assisting with the decision-making process. Additionally, you will be responsible for gathering and analyzing data, preparing reports, and ensuring that all underwriting guidelines and regulations are followed. The ideal candidate for this position must have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well in a team environment. A background in insurance or finance is preferred, and excellent communication skills are a must. Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze applicant information including financial documents, credit reports, and other relevant data.
  • Assess risk factors associated with applications and determine appropriate insurance coverage levels.
  • Ensure underwriting decisions are made in accordance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate with agents, brokers, and clients to clarify information and request additional details as needed.
  • Prepare underwriting reports and documentation for review and approval by senior underwriters or managers.
  • Participate in training sessions and stay updated on industry trends and best practices in underwriting.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as claims and sales to ensure a smooth underwriting process.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to underwriting policy development.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of assigned accounts to make recommendations for adjustments or cancellations.
  • Maintain accurate records of underwriting activities and decisions for auditing purposes.

  • Qualifications for Associate Underwriter role:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
  • Prior experience in underwriting or related field is a plus.
