Structural Drafting Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities of Structural Draftsman:

• Preparing detailed technical drawings and plans for structural elements such as beams, columns, foundations, and trusses.
• Creating 2D and 3D designs using drafting software like AutoCAD, Revit, or Tekla.
• Interpreting architectural and engineering designs to produce accurate structural layouts.
• Collaborating with architects, engineers, and project managers to understand project requirements.
• Ensuring drawings align with engineering calculations, design standards, and client specifications.
• Communicating effectively with other departments to address potential issues and conflicts in design.
• Ensuring all drawings comply with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
• Incorporating specifications such as load calculations, material requirements, and environmental considerations.
• Modifying and revising drawings based on feedback from engineers or site teams.
• Maintaining records of design changes, revisions, and updates to ensure traceability.
• Producing as-built drawings after project completion.
• Assisting in preparing material take-offs and quantity estimates based on designs.
• Providing support in identifying material specifications for procurement.
• Visiting construction sites to ensure alignment of structural work with designs.
• Assisting in resolving design-related issues encountered during construction.
• Keeping up to date with advancements in drafting technologies and software.
• Adapting to new methods and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of work.
