Job Description

As a Vehicle Mechanic (Automotive), you will be responsible for diagnosing, inspecting, and repairing various types of vehicles, including cars, trucks, and vans. Your duties will include conducting routine maintenance checks, identifying mechanical issues, and performing necessary repairs to ensure vehicles are in safe working condition. You will use specialized tools and equipment to troubleshoot problems with engines, brakes, suspension systems, and more. Strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of automotive systems are essential for success in this role. Additionally, excellent communication skills and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team will be key in providing high-quality service to customers. A certification or training in automotive mechanics is typically required for this position.


Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles, including engine tune-ups, oil changes, and tire rotations.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues with vehicles, including engine, transmission, and brake systems.
  • Conduct inspections to identify potential problems and recommend necessary repairs.
  • Replace or repair damaged or worn parts, such as belts, hoses, and brake pads.
  • Test vehicles to ensure proper functionality and safety standards are met.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed, parts used, and services provided.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Stay current with industry advancements and updates in automotive technology.
  • Collaborate with other team members to complete complex repairs or projects.
  • Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs and maintenance procedures to vehicle owners.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a formal automotive training program or apprenticeship
  • Certification in automotive technology or related field
