Job Description

As an Underwriting Assistant, you will play a vital role in the insurance industry by providing support to underwriters and assisting in the evaluation of insurance applications. Your responsibilities will include reviewing insurance applications, collecting and analyzing data, preparing reports, and conducting research to assist in the decision-making process. You will need to possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills are also essential as you will be required to liaise with clients, brokers, and other internal teams. A background in finance, business, or a related field is typically required for this position. This role offers a great opportunity to learn about the underwriting process and develop valuable skills in the insurance industry.


Responsibilities

  • Assist underwriters in reviewing and analyzing insurance applications.
  • Gather and verify necessary data and documents for underwriting decisions.
  • Process policy endorsements and changes accurately and efficiently.
  • Communicate with agents, brokers, and insured parties to obtain additional information.
  • Prepare quotes, binders, and other underwriting documents.
  • Maintain accurate underwriting files and documentation.
  • Assist in monitoring and managing policy renewals.
  • Conduct basic risk assessments and evaluations.
  • Provide administrative support to the underwriting team.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and regulations related to underwriting.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently
