Job Description

The Transport Manager oversees the transportation operations of the organization, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of goods and personnel. They are responsible for managing drivers, scheduling routes, and coordinating logistics to meet customer demands. The Transport Manager also monitors transportation costs, implements strategies to improve efficiency, and maintains compliance with applicable transportation regulations.


Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of drivers, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Plan and schedule transportation routes to meet delivery deadlines and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate logistics activities, such as procurement and inventory management.
  • Monitor transportation costs and implement cost-saving strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to transportation operations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Address customer concerns or complaints regarding transportation services.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as sales or operations, to optimize transportation processes.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and developments in transportation technology.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in transportation management or a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations and best practices.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using transportation management software and other relevant tools.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety procedures.
  • Certification or training in transportation management (optional, but desirable).
