Job Description

A QC Engineer specializing in painting and coating is responsible for ensuring that all painting and coating applications meet industry standards, client specifications, and quality control requirements. This role involves conducting inspections, performing quality tests, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of coating materials, application methods, and quality assurance techniques to maintain high standards in surface preparation and coating processes.


Responsibilities:

  • conduct inspections on painting and coating applications to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications

  • review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and quality standards related to coatings

  • monitor surface preparation, including blasting, priming, and painting, to ensure proper execution

  • perform quality tests such as dry film thickness (DFT) measurement, adhesion testing, and holiday testing

  • document and report any non-conformities, propose corrective actions, and follow up on resolutions

  • coordinate with project teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure quality control standards are maintained

  • ensure all painting and coating processes align with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements

  • maintain records of inspections, test results, and compliance documentation

  • conduct training and awareness programs for staff on quality standards and best practices in coating applications

  • stay updated on industry advancements, new coating materials, and evolving quality control techniques


Requirements:

  • bachelor’s degree or diploma in mechanical engineering, materials engineering, or a related field

  • minimum 3-5 years of experience in painting and coating quality control, preferably in construction, oil & gas, or manufacturing industries

  • certification in NACE, FROSIO, or equivalent painting and coating inspection is highly preferred

  • strong knowledge of coating types, surface preparation methods, and application techniques

  • proficiency in quality inspection tools, including DFT gauges, hygrometers, and adhesion testers

  • understanding of international painting and coating standards such as SSPC, NACE, and ISO

  • ability to interpret technical specifications and perform quality audits

  • excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and documentation abilities

  • good communication skills to collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal teams

  • knowledge of HSE regulations related to coatings and hazardous materials
