Optometrist

The Optometrist is responsible for conducting comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosing vision problems, and prescribing corrective lenses or treatments in accordance with UAE healthcare standards. Working in clinical, retail, or hospital environments, the role requires strong patient care skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide both medical and lifestyle advice related to eye health. The Optometrist ensures all practices adhere to UAE Ministry of Health regulations and local licensing requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Performing routine and specialized eye examinations to assess vision and detect eye diseases or abnormalities.

• Prescribing corrective lenses, contact lenses, and visual aids based on patient assessments.

• Advising patients on proper eye care, preventive measures, and follow-up treatments.

• Referring patients to ophthalmologists or other healthcare professionals for advanced care when needed.

• Maintaining accurate patient records and documenting diagnosis, prescriptions, and treatment plans.

• Using diagnostic tools and equipment such as retinoscopes, autorefractors, and slit lamps to evaluate eye health.

• Staying updated with the latest advancements in optometry, optical products, and regulatory guidelines.

• Ensuring compliance with UAE healthcare regulations, licensing policies, and infection control protocols.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Optometry or equivalent from an accredited institution.

• Valid UAE Optometrist license.

• Minimum of 2–4 years of clinical experience in optometry, preferably within the UAE or GCC region.

• Strong diagnostic skills and familiarity with advanced optical equipment and technologies.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centric approach.

• Ability to work independently or as part of a healthcare or retail team.

• Fluency in English is required; Arabic is an advantage.
