NICU Nurse

Job Description:

A Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse provides specialized care for newborn infants who are premature or have health complications. They monitor and tend to the needs of the fragile infants, administering medications, feeding, and assisting with medical procedures as necessary. NICU Nurses work collaboratively with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for their patients.

Responsibilities:

• Assessing and monitoring newborn infants in the NICU
• Administering medications and treatments
• Providing feeding support, including tube feedings if necessary
• Assisting with medical procedures and interventions
• Monitoring vital signs and responding to changes in condition
• Communicating with parents and family members about the infant's progress and care
• Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans

Candidate Requirements:

• Active RN license
• BSN degree preferred
• At least 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in a NICU setting
• Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
• Attention to detail and strong critical thinking skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
