Job Description

An MRI Technician is responsible for operating magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners to create detailed images of patients' internal structures, assisting in accurate diagnosis and treatment. This role requires a strong understanding of MRI procedures, patient care, and safety protocols to ensure high-quality imaging results. The technician collaborates with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to interpret scans and provide necessary support. Attention to detail, technical proficiency, and excellent patient communication skills are essential for success in this role.


Responsibilities:

  • Operate MRI equipment to capture high-quality diagnostic images of internal body structures.

  • Explain procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and addressing any concerns.

  • Position patients correctly and adjust imaging settings based on physician instructions.

  • Follow strict safety protocols, including screening patients for contraindications such as metal implants or pacemakers.

  • Monitor patients during scans to ensure their safety and well-being.

  • Maintain and calibrate MRI machines to ensure optimal performance.

  • Work closely with radiologists and physicians to review and analyze scan results.

  • Document patient information and imaging records accurately in the hospital database.

  • Adhere to radiation safety regulations and infection control protocols.

  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in MRI technology and techniques.


Requirements:

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology, MRI technology, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as an MRI Technician in a hospital or imaging center.

  • Strong knowledge of MRI equipment, anatomy, and imaging techniques.

  • Ability to handle patients with care and professionalism, especially those who may be anxious or claustrophobic.

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment and collaborate with medical teams.

  • Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality regulations.

  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays, if required.
