Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to manage and oversee the mechanical engineering functions for various design and construction projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for guiding engineering teams, ensuring technical excellence, and delivering high-quality mechanical systems that meet both project and industry standards. This role requires in-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, effective leadership capabilities, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will play a key role in project planning, coordination, and execution to ensure efficient and timely completion of deliverables.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the mechanical engineering design process from concept through detailed design and into implementation, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry codes

  • Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, electrical engineers, and other project stakeholders to ensure fully integrated building systems

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, promoting professional development and skill enhancement

  • Review, approve, and oversee mechanical system layouts, calculations, specifications, and drawings to ensure technical accuracy and constructability

  • Conduct site visits during construction to monitor progress, ensure quality installation, and resolve any design-related issues that may arise

  • Evaluate and select appropriate materials, equipment, and mechanical systems that align with performance requirements and budget constraints

  • Participate in project meetings and provide regular updates on engineering progress, challenges, and solutions to project managers and clients

  • Ensure that all mechanical designs adhere to local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards

  • Develop and implement engineering procedures and best practices to improve project delivery efficiency and design quality

  • Lead the preparation of technical documentation, tender packages, and support during the bidding and procurement phases

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working in a senior or lead mechanical engineering role within the construction or building services sector

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, including design principles and regulatory standards

  • Proficiency in mechanical design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and engineering calculation tools like HAP or Carrier software

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to coordinate across disciplines and drive team performance

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail and a results-oriented approach

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for technical reporting, documentation, and client interaction

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master’s degree or professional certifications is a plus
