Job Description

The Infection Control and Prevention Manager is responsible for implementing and managing practices to prevent and control the spread of infections within healthcare facilities and other settings. Key duties include developing, implementing, and monitoring infection control policies and procedures, conducting regular assessments of infection control practices, providing education and training to staff on infection prevention measures, and investigating and responding to infectious outbreaks. The Manager collaborates with healthcare providers, administrators, and public health officials to ensure compliance with infection control standards and regulations. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential in this role to promote a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff, and visitors.


Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate infection control policies and procedures across the organization.
  • Provide education and training to staff on infection prevention protocols and best practices.
  • Conduct regular infection control audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement.
  • Monitor and analyze infection data to track trends and implement strategies for prevention.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and local health agencies to prevent and manage infectious outbreaks.
  • Investigate and respond to any reported cases of healthcare-associated infections promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines related to infection prevention.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest research and developments in infection control to inform practice.
  • Lead and support the infection control team in their daily operations and responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders to promote a culture of infection prevention throughout the organization.

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Microbiology, or related field
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and best practices related to infection control
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting with a focus on infection prevention and control
